It's been a while since my last update. I've just been so busy lately, just started a 5 month old baby girl in my daycare at the beginning of this month. She decided to go on strike for taking her out of the comfort of her own home because dad has to go back to work. She didn't want to eat, cried on top of her lungs for the first few days but decided to calm down a little because she realized that she is losing her battle! Dave asked me if I was going to return her but I told him that I am keeping her since she is so cute! I am also committed because the dad happened to be Melissa's science teacher who was on maternity leave when school started. ( Both parents are very nice and the baby has started to warm up, always has a smile on first thing in the morning when mom drops her off).
Anyway, Dave has been feeling lousy for the last few weeks. He was on oxycontin but decided to go off and his energy level just went down the drain. I was going to let the girls go to Boston with Ruth and her girls on Veteran's Day weekend since they are not very excited going down to Va anymore but Dave decided that he wanted to go. It wasn't easy getting him out of the bed at five in the morning to catch our 7 a.m. flight. He was sick and he wanted to go hunting in Va but he changed his mind quickly when I openned the suitcase to remove his clothes. We flew to Manchester, NH because that's where Ruth's cousin lives which is an hour away from Boston. Dave and I stayed back in Manchester while the rest of the gang went to the Science Museum in Boston. He did a little bit of fishing with Heather's husband and went to check in at the hotel around 3 p.m. I listened to him snoring because I couldn't sleep ( I slept in the truck while they were driving around, looking for a place to fish) and I was so excited that I am away from home, staying at a hotel with no fishing pole! We stayed at Highlander Inn, sorrounded with trees, no lakes around and the place is very quiet and cozy. ( Ruth said that it looks like a mansion ). At 6 pm, I was ready to go and check out the hotel restaurant which is a few doors away from our room (didn't have to drive). Dave's appetite has been like of a pregnant woman latety but he had "prime roast beef", he cleaned his plate and it stayed in.
Mornings are a struggle for Dave to pull himself together, tired and just sick. He didn't want to make the trip to Boston but he didn't want me to stay with him at the hotel. He had to take morphine to have some energy. We went to the New England Aquaruim but he forgot to bring his fishing pole :) I had to push him around in a wheel chair so that he could make it through the day. At the gift shop, I left him in Danica's care but she decided to wander around so he pushed himself in the middle of store, put his head up with mouth openned and stayed that way until Heather found him! We did the "Duck Tour", driving around the historic sites of Boston; like the last address of JFK in his driver's license and a guy who decided to relieve himself facing Charles river! Where are the cops when needed? They must be all spread out at the 100 "Dunkin' Dounut" around Boston. We had dinner at Ruth's Aunt and Uncle, Jenny and Bruce Peirce in Peabody, MA. Dave was fine when we got there, you would never guess that he has cancer, until he was done with dinner. He just sat still and so quiet, with the look of "Honey, I am sick!" We went outside on the street and dinner was gone! We were supposed to hit the Lounge at the hotel that night but it didn't happened.
Sunday, he woke up feeling better so the 2 of us went to get breakfast, leaving the girls in the room with poptarts and chocolate milk (good parenting). Our flight home wasn't until 7pm so we left him at the hotel. We went to visit Ruth's old neighborhood where she grew up, her old house, etc. in Peabody, Ma. We went to Salem, Ma., visited the "Witch Dungeon Museum", went to Putnam Pantry for ice cream and on our way home, Dave called. He said that he felt sick and sweating and needed to eat two peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He was hungry, thirsty and his sugar is low. He was panicky but we coulnd't get to him fast enough, the traffic and weather wasn't cooperating. It rained all day long in NH and MA. I called him back a few minutes later and said that he was feeling better, he went to get a drink from the vending machine and chewed a bubble gum but still wanted the PB&J. On the plane, he had another craving for prime rib so we had to go to "Outback" on our way home and he kept it in!
He has been in Va since Wednesday night. Robert was in the area picking up cars so he got a ride with him. He has been hunting and said that he shot 2 deers this morning and went again this evening and got another one. He said that he is tired but has to go on. He went to play cards last night and he is most likely at the "Turkey Shoot" tonight. Melissa and I will drive down to Va. tomorrow morning to pick him for his chemo treatment on Monday morning.
Danica is still working at Pizza Hut. Her boss asked her to work this morning at 11:30 and didn't get off until 9pm. "American Eagle" will be happy when she gets paid since she goes straight to the mall. She will be staying behind tomorrow because she has to work and she will be making apple and squash pie with her "Ms. Ruth" for the church Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday. The squash pie is mine, don't know how to make the crust. I suggested to Danica that it is easier to just go buy a pie but she said that it's better if it's home made. Well, as long as I am not making it!
Thanks a lot to our friend, Jocelyn Bylma from Camarillo, CA for sending Dave a bennie and a scarf. He needs it. He is always cold if not freezing most of the time! ( Yes, Danica. Auntie Jocelyn knows how to make such things!)
After 17 years of living here in the America, I finally got my CITIZENSHIP! I went to take my oath while Dave was having his chemo treatment. Can't beat that!
Dave's spirit has been so down lately. Please continue to hold him in your prayers.
HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!
